17th century Salem witch trials spread fear of sorcery across the land. Performing Arthur Miller's play The Crucible, the Black Maskers enter the courtroom. The prosecution of the accused users of witchcraft is underway: those who deny it will be executed, but if the defendant admits their crimes or provides the name of the devil's true puppet, then they shall be freed. Soon the town is in uproar, watching in horror as more and more of their neighbors are proven to be witches who are constantly tormenting some of the girls in the town, especially Abigail Williams. These girls were the original sign of witchcraft in Salem, but apparently they were unwilling servants of the devil who managed to escape. Seeing spirits in the courtroom, these girls get many citizens prosecuted because the judges cannot bear to witness their torment. Coincidentally, Abigail is a troubled girl who seeks the heart of John Proctor, a married man.
