This Spring 2009 the Black Maskers will perform The Baker's Wife, a musical of both drama and comedy by Stephen Schwartz and Joseph Stein. In the village cafe the citizens all begin bickering over separate conflicts. The people in the small French town have some relief from their arguments when their new baker, Aimable Castagnet, arrives, ending a lack of bread since the previous baker had died. The Marquis welcomes him, mistakes the baker's young wife Genevieve for his own daughter, and the baker and his wife settle comfortably into their new home. However, the baker will soon have his own problems. His problems are so enormous that the whole town will get involved.
